Beyond Lawn's Mission

Empowering communities to conserve water and enhance biodiversity through education, collaboration, and guidance to foster sustainable landscapes.

Landscape & Irrigation Evaluations

Beyond Lawn provides low-cost landscape and irrigation evaluations to help property owners identify the most effective ways to reduce water use on their land while improving the natural and aesthetic value.

Sustainable Landscaping Resources

Click below to visit the Beyond Lawn website for comprehensive resources that will help you identify and execute outdoor water conservation strategies on your land.

Turf Replacement & Irrigation Efficiency Rebates

After a landscape and irrigation evaluation has been completed, Beyond Lawn participants are eligible to complete sustainable landscaping work and receive two rebates:

  • Turf Removal: Turf removal rebates are for previously maintained cool-season turfgrass that has been replaced with a water-wise landscaping alternative, like a meadowscape or a native perennial garden.

  • Efficient Irrigation Upgrades: Efficient irrigation upgrades are for any qualifying work that is done to improve the efficiency of the irrigation system, like replacing old controllers with smart, EPA Watersense controllers or renozzling old zones with high-efficiency rotary nozzles.

Conserving Western Water, One Drop at a Time

Beyond Lawn Backyard Conservation Program

The Math:

  • Each square foot of irrigated turf requires 14 gallons of water per irrigation season.
  • That’s 35,000 gallons for an average 2,500 square foot lawn.
  • When watered and maintained effectively, replacing turf with sustainable landscaping can potentially reduce your outdoor water use by 50-60%
  • Less water, lower bills

Services:

  • Landscape and Efficient Irrigation Evaluations
  • Workshops
  • Water-Efficient Landscaping Resources

Rebates:

  • Upgrading inefficient irrigation systems
  • Turf removal

Education & Outreach

This program empowers our community to take action as it relates to water efficiency. Look for educational events such as rain barrel workshops, DIY guides, demonstration gardens and more.

Western water is increasingly in the news, as the aridity of the West and ever-changing climate reduces the amount of water flowing in our streams. Therefore, conservation programs and action are critical to protect our water supplies and offset increasing costs.
