50/50 Conservation Grant for Landowners

(ECCD) is excited to announce the launch of its NEW 50/50 Conservation Grant, designed to support on-the-ground conservation work that improves natural resources, enhances land stewardship, and strengthens the resilience of working landscapes within the district. This annual grant program provides up to $15,000 in matching funds to landowners who are ready to invest in conservation practices that benefit their land and the broader Eagle County community.

Program Overview

The 50/50 Conservation Grant is a cost-share program, up to a maximum award of $15,000. Grant funds may support a wide range of technical conservation projects that enhance soil health, water quality and quantity, habitat, riparian systems, vegetation and other practices that align with ECCD’s mission, vision and strategic operating plan.

The program is open to all landowners or land managers located within ECCD boundaries, with applications reviewed through a Grant Scoring Rubric. Funding is competitive and allocated annually based on availability of funds.

Deadlines & Implementation

Applications will be accepted twice next year:

  • March 31st (for 2026 only): for 2026 implementation
  • September 30th (re-occurs annually): for following year implementation

All awarded projects must be completed within one year of the grant award date. Opportunity to apply for a 1 year extension.

Match Requirements

To receive funding, applicants must contribute an equal share toward project costs:

  • Landowners may use cash or in-kind contributions to meet their match.
  • At least 50% of the landowner’s match must be cash funding.
  • In-kind contributions may include labor, contractor support, materials or other non-cash inputs that directly support the project.
